Sub-Contractor Risk Management

Evaluation Criteria

In most jurisdictions Prime Contractors have a duty to ensure that everyone involved in work on a construction project complies with workplace safety regulatory requirements.

Incomplete or inconsistent management of sub-contractors increases the risk that your projects will experience costly delays and rework, not to mention hazards to people, equipment and the environment.

Sub-contractors can be a liability that Prime Contractors can never recover from. Examples include job site shut down, prosecutions, fines, and reputational damage.

On the other hand, effective management helps ensure the right sub-contractor does the job correctly the first time and contributes to the projects success. It is simply good business management.

This document provides the selection criteria for hiring Sub-Contractors. It has been developed through years of experience working with Prime Contractors.

Use the Sub-Contractor Evaluation Criteria to help ensure the success of your people - and your projects!
